Full Description
A well which was established sometime between the Victorian period and the mid-20th century, and a 19th courtyard were identified during an evaluation at Church View, Newnham. The excavation was carried out in 2019-2020 during groundworks associated with development at the site.
The well measured 1.2m across (including the brick lining), and reached a depth of 15.7m. No water was present within the well.
The courtyard comprised a small patch of bricks which were Georgian in appearance and probably associated with a barn at the site which was visible on a late 19th century OS map.(1)
