Full Description

Two possible Bronze Age post-holes or pits were identified during an evaluation carried out at Queenborough Road, Isle of Sheppey in 2022. These features measured 0.48m x 0.40m x 0.08m and measured 0.45m x 0.40m x 0.09m. Two fragments of Bronze Age pottery were recovered, one from each fill, alongside fragments of teeth recovered from one of the features originating from a domesticated sheep or goat. The pottery comprised a rim sherd from a short upright-necked jar, alongside a body sherd. The finds demonstrated evidence for weathering before being redeposited, potentially as a result of colluvial activity at the site. (1)
