Summary

Post-medieval ditches and pits were identified during an evaluation carried out at Great Grovehurst Farm, Sittingbourne in 2017. The work was completed in advance of proposed residential development at the site comprising the construction of housing and associated infrastructure.

Full Description

Post-medieval ditches were identified during an evaluation carried out at Great Grovehurst Farm, Sittingbourne in 2017. A series of prehistoric, undated, and post-medieval ditches and isolated pits were identified at the site. Finds associated with post-medieval activity at the site included four fragments of ceramic building material and a fragment of pottery, and other finds of post-medieval or modern date included an animal bone assemblage from the burial of a calf and an unidentified iron artefact. Many or all of these features may be agricultural in character.(1)
