Full Description
Post-medieval burials and a brick well were identified during a watching brief carried out at St Martin's Church, Ryarsh in 2017. Fifteen grave cuts were identified alongside eight skeletons and three coffin bases. The graves were dated to around the early 19th century, with some intercutting graves and one grave containing two skeletons.
A brick well measuring 0.49m in height and 0.25m in width was also identified during the excavation. The watching brief was carried out during the excavation of six soakaways and nine trenches for a new drainage system; all human remains were retained for reburial by the church. (1)
