Summary
An undated pit or post-hole with evidence of in situ burning was identified during an evaluation carried out at Lower Herne Village in 2024. The evaluation was completed in advance of proposed residential development at the site.

Full Description
An undated pit or post-hole with evidence of in situ burning was identified during an evaluation carried out at Lower Herne Village in 2024. The feature measured 0.55m x 0.40m x 0.16m and could potentially represent a burnt out timber post. The authors of the report (1) tentatively suggest a post-medieval or modern date, however, due to the lack of associated finds, ithe date remains uncertain. (1)
