Full Description
Flint metalling was identified within a trench at this location in 2022, approximately 0.3m below the current road surface. It has been interpreted as a possible section of Roman road, potentially forming part of a hypothesised north–south route between Joss Bay and Ramsgate. This route may have passed alongside Joss Street Farm, Smock Street Farm, and Sowell Street Farm — with the recurring use of 'Street' in these place names possibly indicating the presence of a Roman road.
