Full Description
Late Bronze Age and Iron Age agricultural features were identified during an evaluation carried out at Pond Farm, Grovehurst Road in 2022. These features included coaxial rectilinear field systems, droveways, trackways, pathways, and land boundaries. A boundary ditch was identified in one of the trenches which dated to the Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age and which was recut during the medieval and post-medieval periods. Pottery sherds, animal remains, lithics including worked and burnt flint, and ferrous artefacts were recovered during the excavations. However, only the dates of pottery are recorded in the report.
