Full Description
A probable later prehistoric field or enclosure system, alongside an undated palaeochannel were identified during an evaluation carried out at Danley Road, Minster-on-Sea in May 2020.
Archaeology was identified in five trenches comprising ten ditches and a pit; the features have been interpreted as a possible later prehistoric field or enclosure system. The palaeochannel comprised an apparently natural channel, however, this could be an anthropogenic feature as it contained sherds of Roman pottery and had stepped sides. The rest of the pottery recovered from the site dated largely to the later prehistoric period. Report not seen by HER so no further information.
The features may be "related to a late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age settlement found 60m to the north of the Site at Power Station Road" (from the original report, 1).
