Monument record TR 06 SW 1551 - Undated ditches, post-holes, and pits, Lady Dane Farm, Faversham

Undated features were identified during an evaluation carried out in 2024 at Lady Dane Farm, Faversham. The evaluation was completed by Invicta Archaeological Services Ltd in advance of proposed residential and commerical development at the site.

The features were located to the north-west and south-east of the site, and included ditches, post-holes, pits, and a palaeochannel (TR 06 SW 1552) some of which may have formed part of a field system. The presence of features sich as post-holes and pits is also indicative of occupation-related activity taking place at the site.

Small quantities of medieval pottery largely comprising Tyler Hill Ware were identified in surface deposits in five of the trenches, and a small number of calcined flint fragments were located within the fills of features at the site. The prevalence of medieval pottery to the west of the site is interpreted (1) as potentially indicating the medieval origins of Love Lane. (1)
