Summary

A palaeochannel was identified during an evaluation carried out at Lady Dane Farm, Faversham in 2024. The excavation was completed by Invicta Archaeological Services Ltd in advance of proposed commerical and residential development taking place at the site. A number of other archaeological features were also identified, including pits, ditches, and post-holes (TR 06 SW 1551), thought by the excavators to represent a possible field system and occupation site.

Full Description

A palaeochannel was identified during an evaluation carried out at Lady Dane Farm, Faversham in 2024. The excavation was completed by Invicta Archaeological Services Ltd in advance of proposed commerical and residential development taking place at the site.

The channel measured over 7m in length, up to 7.2m in width, and 0.51-1.44m in depth and contained 6 fills. The only finds recovered from its fills comprised charcoal and calcined flints.
A number of other archaeological features were also identified, including pits, ditches, and post-holes (TR 06 SW 1551), thought by the excavators to represent a possible field system and occupation site. (1)
