Summary

The earthworks of possible post medieval drains can be seen on the southern edge of Cooling marsh north of the village. These ditches are no more than 2m across and are narrower than most of the drainage channels that define the fields on the marshes. They were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.

Full Description

The earthworks of possible post medieval drains can be seen on the southern edge of Cooling marsh north of the village, centred on TQ 7531 7647. These ditches are no more than 2m across and are narrower than most of the drainage channels that define the fields on the marshes. They were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.(1)
