Summary

A dump deposit, possibly associated with 16th-18th century stone quarrying was identified during a watching brief carried out at in 2009. This contained post-medieval pottery dating between 1575-1700 AD. The deposit could alternatively have resulted from landscaping associated with the modern dwelling at the site.

Full Description

A dump deposit, possibly associated with 16th-18th century stone quarrying was identified during a watching brief carried out at in 2009. This contained post-medieval pottery dating between 1575-1700 AD. A steep sandstone face was exposed on the eastern side of the site which may have been the source of any quarried stone.
The deposit could alternatively have resulted from landscaping associated with the modern dwelling at the site. (1)
