Full Description
A 3ha area of chalk pits was identified at Charing Beech Hangers during a survey of the site carried out in 2004. The pits measured up to 30m in width and 10m in depth. These features are interpreted (1) as pre-dating the industrial scale quarrying of the 19th-20th centuries (TQ 94 NE 36). (1)
