Full Description

A probable medieval ditch and a possible medieval pit were identified during an evaluation carried out at Tenterden Southern Extension by Archaeology South-East in 2015. The ditch probably functioned as a field boundary, and contained four sherds of medieval pottery derived from a green glazed jug dating to between 1300-1500 AD. Environmental sampling was carried out on the contents of the pit, which was found to contain oak charcoal, suggesting a burning event had taken place in the pit or its vicinity.

Several post-medieval agricultural features and one undated pit were also located during the excavation. (1)
