Full Description

A Drake and Fletcher stationary engine bolted onto the floor of a pump house (visible on the 2nd and 3rd edition Ordnance Survey maps) that pumped water from the Len to the new Mote House gardens (making it late Georgian or Victorian in date). Images show two plinths either side of the river on the backside of the island and a water connection. It is probable that a water pipe would have spanned across the river to pump the water up hill.
