Monument record TR 26 SE 241 - ?Iron Age or Roman rectilinear enclosure, Preston

Summary

Cropmarks of the southern half of a probable Iron Age or Roman rectilinear enclosure visible on aerial photographs. The enclosure is defined by a single ditch with straight sides, curved corners and a single terminally defined entrance in the southern side - off-set towards the south-eastern corner. The enclosure is cut by a modern field boundary and cannot be seen to the north of the hedgeline due to tree cover and parkland planting. To the south and south-east of the enclosure are further faint cropmarks of ditches and at least two ring ditches, one of which appears to have traces of a large internal depression.
