Summary

A number of archaeological features were identified during an evaluation to the west of Elm Avenue, Chattenden. These comprised a possible water storage pit dating to the Roman period, a Roman or early medieval ditch, Roman pits, and ditches, a possible Late Iron Age pit, and a number of undated features including a fire pit.

Full Description

A number of archaeological features were identified during an evaluation to the west of Elm Avenue, Chattenden. These comprised a possible water storage pit dating to the Roman period, a Roman or early medieval ditch, Roman pits, and ditches, a possible Late Iron Age pit, and a number of undated features including a fire pit. Pottery fragments, ceramic building material, and several pieces of kiln wall were some of the finds recovered from the fills of features at the site. (1)
