Full Description
The slight earthworks of a causeway on the marshes by Stoke Saltings can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 1946. This causeway ran for approximately 130m between TQ 8510 7562 and TQ 8509 7547 and provided access to a wharf on Colemouth Creek (NMR 1541694). Both the causeway and wharf are first depicted on the 1896 Ordnance Survey map. This feature was mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. (1-2)
