Full Description
Second World War military features centred at TQ 7586 7299, including six or seven temporary buildings, three or four areas of hard standing, two earth covered air raid shelters and several possible small temporary gun emplacements, have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The features, visible on photographs taken in 1944, were associated with the intense military activity on Deangate Ridge during the 1940s. They were situated to the east of Lodge Hill Lane, between the Lodge Hill Armaments Depot (Monument 1077634) and the Chattenden Magazines (Monument 1481790), and may have provided support for those facilities as well as a radar station or gun laying mat recorded as Monument 1547246, which lies about 600m to the east.
