Full Description
A post-medieval chalk pit is visible on historic mapping to the south west of Guston, Dover. The feature is seen on the 1st edition (1862-1875), 2nd edition (1897-1900), 3rd edition (1907-1923), and 4th edition (1929-1952) historic OS maps. It is labelled as "Chalk Pit" on the 1st edition map, "Old Chalk Pit" on the 2nd edition map, and is unlabelled on other maps, suggesting it probably went out of use during the late 19th century.
