Abstract/Summary
The report details the initial archaeological survey and proposed project design for a V-1 flying-bomb impact site in Lord’s Wood, Orlestone, Kent. Conducted in April 2021, the investigation used archival research, aerial photography, Lidar, and a magnetometer survey to confirm the site, revealing a shallow crater and scattered V-1 fragments. Six artefacts were recovered from the topsoil, with 17 additional metallic signals recorded. The site’s undisturbed woodland setting offers excellent potential for further controlled excavation and analysis. The project aims to document, conserve, and interpret the site, contributing to the understanding of WWII aerial combat and heritage preservation
