Abstract/Summary
The report details the initial archaeological survey and proposed further investigation of a V-1 flying-bomb impact site in Bayland Wood, Orlestone, Kent. Conducted in April 2021, the survey confirmed the presence of a water-filled crater and recovered six V-1 artefacts from the topsoil, including engine and control surface fragments. Archival records, aerial photos, and Lidar supported the site’s identification as the result of a V-1 shot down by F/O Dryland on 5 July 1944.
